Kate Shields Stenzinger and I started our podcast for the fun of a new shared project, to celebrate things we love about art, science, and to document things we try to create and learn as a family.

In our recent goal planning talks, Kate and I decided to end the project, more on that in a bit. We made 87 episodes of Art and Science Punks.

What I'm Proud of With ASP

Improving at Working With Kate Creatively

Kate's all around awesome to work with. We collaborate all the time in day to day life and encourage one another in our individual creative projects. Kate was a guest and guest co-host on both the Polytechnicast and Lean Into Art multiple times. We thought about making our own podcast series ever since.

In a few past projects we tried to do writing and comics together when we weren't as ready with a creative collaborative approach that worked for both of us. For my part I stopped worrying about a consistent output schedule and instead focused on being present and playful when we decided we had a topic and time to record.

That could just be a narrative rationalizing my experience. But it's how Kate sees it too. Kate told me ASP was a fun project for her and I was great to work with. I think she'll hire me again.

Created a Workshop Together

Goal planning was a recurring theme on the show. We developed a stronger process for our goal planning and shared ideas in the podcast. This directly led to us developing the Where Next Journal goal planning workbook and the workshop: Goal Planning Using Design + Storytelling. Both are still available at Gumroad and Skillshare.

Our Oldest Kiddo Became a Listener of the Show

We've been recording these long enough for our oldest kid to ask us about it and become a listener. She started to have feedback notes and questions too. Makes sense since she's one of our sources for stories to share. Like when Kate figured out some fast talk to get out of a Tooth Fairy related bind.

The Archive of Episodes is Still Fun and Still Out There

You can still listen to the show. The note taking "where do I write stuff down" episode recently started playing on my podcast queue. Wasn't planning on reviewing the show before posting this, glad it happened though. That episode is solid and playful way to think about note taking apps and reminded me of the banter listeners like about the show. Making Space for Other Projects

For those thinking ending the project is related to Kate's battle with breast cancer, that's certainly part of it. That's a big event giving her and I both new perspective on projects.
